Cute Card Thursday

My mission, which I chose to accept was to make a card using no dies or punches. Now, I like to haul out the big shot and texture boutique as much as the next crafter but I also make relatively simple cards, and for months had no fancy gadgets to play with to make my cards look fab so I’ve had a bit of practice on the no dies or punches front!

Here is my card. It’s a get well soon card for my sister in law who is going through a rather rough time of it, health wise, as the moment.

Ingredients List
  • Bazzill Bitter Chocolate cardstock
  • Baby Blue Textured cardstock from PaperMania
  • White Cardstock for the Word 2007 sentiment
  • DP is a digital download (freebie) called Mod Twist by Cheri Wenger at MyGrafico
  • Butterfly from the Butterfly Garden digi stamp set by Sarah Paris, also from MyGrafico
  • Dark Cream ribbon
  • Gems and Pearls from stash
  • Stickles
  • 3dimensionals for under the butterfly’s wings

This will be submitted to the Cute Card Thursday Challenge this week

The craft challenge this week is all about Halloween Colours so I had a little rummage around in my brand new paper drawer in my brand new desk (I’ll stop going on about it soon, honest!) and found some black and orange textured cardstock but I also wanted to use one of the trick or treat digi papers by Blackleaf on MyGrafico because the spiders are so cute! Not like the horrible hairy legged monsters which keep trying to get into my house!

This is the card. It’s a wiper card so when you get it out of the envelope (I made it so it would fit into a standard size C6 envelope when flattened out), it looks like this.

Push the sides inwards and a little “Boo” message pops up! How cute is that?!

Ingredients List:

  • Black and Orange textured card stock
  • Digi Paper from
  • Sentiment made using word 2007
  • Pear Green Promarker
  • White sakura souffle pen for the faux stitching.

Gift Tags part 2

After waking up to a slightly soggy house… don’t ask! Here are the other gift tags I made last night and referred to in my other post.

Here’s what I used to make them:

  • Paper from the La Creme paper stack
  • Element from the Butterfly Garden digi stamp set by Sarah Paris from
  • Promarkers (satin and blush)
  • Black Metallic cord
  • Stickles with glitter tinsel mixed in for extra sparkle
  • Scalloped circle nestabilities die.
  • Big Shot
I really like these – I know I say that about all my stuff but I do really like these tags. DH thinks they’d look good on the Christmas tree  but I’d need to make a whole bunch more than the four I’ve made so far!

Gift Tags

I decided to make something quite easy to give my new desk a trial run to see if I like where I’ve put everything! So I made some gift tags. They’re 2″ x 1.5″ so not as big as my photo would have them look!

I have used some plain white cardstock, olive green cardstock and some wine coloured grosgrain ribbon.

The stamp is from the Penny Black Holly Day Critters clear stamp pack and coloured with promarkers and stickles. I think they’re really cute. I also made some other gift tags but I will upload those tomorrow.

I’m pooped after my construction today! hehe

WoYwW? EVERYTHING! hehe at the moment, I’m waiting to take delivery of my brand new shiny work desk. Very exciting! From being huddled up in a corner on a small desk that I could never keep tidy cos of the lack of space, I will shortly, after a hopefully stress free assembly process, have 1.5m of spacious goodness with a drawer big enough to stand my 12 x 12s in and 6 other shelves. Plenty of space!

I doubt I’ll get any crafting done this morning, unless the delivery man comes really really really early but hopefully, I’ll get to road test my new work space later on. This post will be a bit like changing rooms with the before and after shots. So today, I will be snooping around everyone else’s crafty exploits and cringing in embarrassment that I’m actually displaying my mess to the blogging world… hehe

p.s. I literally mean I have nearly everything on my desk at the moment, except the stuff I have in my stackable storage, I cleared out the drawers and piled everything on the work surface – it’s not usually this messy! 🙂

p.p.s As a blatant attempt to detract from my horror desk, here’s my puppy, Meadow aka Meadow-Beddow as she will make a bed out of anything – this time, my usually favourite chair. I’ve been relegated to the sofa.

Update: Here’s the desk! Took me 3 hours to put it together so I ran out of steam to properly organise it! May come back to it later after a looooong muscle relaxing soak! 🙂 I have big plans for the CD rack down the side but you’ll have to come back next week for that! (hark at me leaving cliff hangers, I should write story lines for Corrie! hehe)

Creme De La Creme

After my joy with the Mariposa paper stack, I decided to give another one a go, and since it was on sale, I chose the La Creme paper stack by DCWV. Now, I’ve previously bought this stack in the 4.5 x 6 size and used it all up in a week cos it was that gorgeous! So although the patterns are bigger on the 12 x 12, I plumped for it anyway cos I already know what I’m getting myself into if you know what I mean!

We’re having a employees craft fayre at work in a few months and I’m making cards and tags to sell at that. This is the card I made today using the new paper stack. It’s very simple, because with papers this good you don’t need a lot of fuss.

How Cute

Not a craft project  as I don’t think I could make anything quite as lovely as my little pooch, Meadow. Here she is all snuggled up with her favourite teddy of the moment. She always seems to fall asleep hugging a soft toy, bless her. I think there’s a storm brewing so not sure how much longer she’ll be sleeping! She likes to bark at the thunder.
